What a waste it would be if we all again and again had to reinvent a language to communicate, or to writing & reading. ... Or how to find the eatable fruits, how to harvest crop ... etc.

Vygotski speaks of the more knowledgable other. This is not per se the 'teacher' as we know it, it can be a peer student who's just more advanced in a particular subject.

Maybe the concepts of Vygotski Zone of Proximal Development and More Knowledgable Other are more usable in practice?Ronald Lhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02797375262256604829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194534881328954061.post-43332894005901963912015-01-25T04:36:41.210-08:002015-01-25T04:36:41.210-08:00Thanks Maha, never heard of Ellsworth or Hooks. I think I shall think about that.sensor63https://www.blogger.com/profile/11879294013686784713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194534881328954061.post-23604354524602313262015-01-25T04:14:48.260-08:002015-01-25T04:14:48.260-08:00Simon, I find feminist critical pedagogues might s...Simon, I find feminist critical pedagogues might suit your interest much more in that they break those binaries and tackle complexities in learning spaces (particularly poststructuralist work of Ellsworth but also hooks). And we rarely consider them as having these marvelous incapacities. We act as if they had identities and like spirits they speak from deep within their spines to say, "Hello, old friend. It's been awhile." Only they don't. The ultimate blindspot is that we are holding up both ends of the conversation.telliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08205908556621412864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194534881328954061.post-62795332191626447752015-01-24T08:31:38.369-08:002015-01-24T08:31:38.369-08:00We agree. No deification zone? A no dilemma zone? I do understand that political power often seems to require that we make decisions "my way or the highway", but I am reluctant to give too much power to anyone, even an expert I love. My point is that I do not revere them. That way lies what Eric Hoffer calls "The Passionate State of Mind" of "The True Believer".

OCICBW: http://saintlaika.com/course-wrong/

telliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08205908556621412864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194534881328954061.post-54776747745706191992015-01-23T06:35:21.885-08:002015-01-23T06:35:21.885-08:00Blink.Blink.sensor63https://www.blogger.com/profile/11879294013686784713noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194534881328954061.post-67771210427830388592015-01-22T11:54:20.972-08:002015-01-22T11:54:20.972-08:00Blink...will objective more laterBlink...will objective more latertelliohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08205908556621412864noreply@blogger.com
